Ski World Cup 2027 has been an expectant hope for Falun Municipality in Dalarna, which has a strong tradition of the World Champions. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships have been arranged in Falun four times, most recently in 2015. With the candidacy decided in May, Falun sent their candidate managers to present a film for the FIS Council during their congress in Milan. The film contained essential factors that showed the municipality's appropriateness to host a Ski World Cup.
Focusing on one of the candidacy's ground themes, Next Level of Experience, Onsite Sport, with its parent company Tension, helped compose the film to increase the chances of winning the candidacy.
With previous Proof of Concepts and gamified solutions for applications at sporting events, Onsite Sport and Tension contributed with convincing material that showed precisely how ready Falun is to host a FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 2027. With a focus on innovation and unique experiences with advanced technology, Onsite Sport can help create a new level of ski sports experience. In Milan, FIS announced that Falu municipality would host the World Cup, and it was delivered with joy in Falun. Onsite Sport, together with Tension, is looking forward to a continued collaboration where we can help develop and redefine the sport together!
Tension was a big part of the digital experience at Falun 2015 with the pioneering app "Falun2015 Live Arena"; we can only speculate about the next level of experience in 2027. One big focus will undoubtedly be on spectator possibilities with individual experiences - similar to an On-Demand service. TV viewers could get the feeling of being on-site with patented techniques within live streaming, with multiple cameras, automatic camera tracking, dynamic sponsors, and live results. Everything, of course, being adapted for all platforms and a virtual reality (VR) experience.
